Athletics at University of Washington is another facet taken very seriously with the students and administration. Member of the Pacific-10 Conference, the Washington Huskies athletic program is made up of 9 men’s sports (baseball, basketball, crew, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, and track & field) and 10 women’s sports (basketball, crew, cross country, golf, gymnastics, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball).
Husky Stadium is among the many different facilities on campus; and it is here where the Husky football and track & field teams host competitions. Opened in 1920, Husky Stadium is known for being one of the loudest stadiums in college football, and was voted the most scenic football structure in the nation. In addition, students looking to tailgate before games arrive on boats because the stadium is so close to Lake Washington – an experience you’ll have a hard time finding at other universities. Finally, the Husky Stadium is known to be the largest stadium in the Northwest with a seating capacity of 72,500.
