In the year 2000, Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft) conceptualized the Music Project. His vision of the project was to allow people to engage their imaginations and inspire personal expression in future generations.

In the museum, you’ll be able to visit many different exhibitions and attend programs and events. Some of the most recent exhibitions that have been visited by the community include Nirvana, Battlestar Galactica, Jimi Hendrix: An Evolution of Sound, and Guitar Galleria. Also popular among visitors are the rare artifacts from popular music history scattered throughout the museum – rock memorabilia and multimedia technology displays are just a few of these artifacts. Visitors also have the opportunity to experience music by entering interactive exhibitions like On Stage and Sound Lab. Finally, the Northwest Passage, an exhibit displaying the history of music in the Pacific Northwest, allows visitors to truly appreciate what music once was and the meaning behind it.
